Limbs over shingles drop debris, hold moisture, and give squirrels a highway into your attic. We prune to a clean 6–10 ft clearance without butchering the tree's shape.
Dense crowns catch wind like a sail. Selective thinning lets summer thunderstorms blow through instead of pushing the tree over — the cheapest insurance a big oak can get.
Dead limbs in mature willow oaks and maples come down on their own schedule — usually onto whatever's parked below. We take them out before gravity does.
We raise canopies over driveways and walkways and clear growth away from your home's electric service drop. (Limbs in the primary power lines along the street are the utility's job — we'll tell you which is which for free.)
Pricing & Timing
Most single-tree prunes run $300–$600; large mature oaks with full crown work run $600–$1,000+. Multi-tree discounts are standard — trimming three trees in one visit costs far less than three separate trips.
Best timing: structural pruning is ideal in late winter dormancy, but hazard trimming — deadwood, roof clearance, storm prep — is worth doing any month of the year. Don't wait until November to get limbs off the roof if hurricane season starts in June.
Topping — chopping the crown flat — forces weakly attached regrowth that becomes more dangerous than what you started with, and it starves the tree. It's the #1 sign of an untrained crew. We reduce crowns properly with cuts back to live laterals.
Mature shade trees do well on a 3–5 year cycle; fast growers like Bradford pears, Leyland cypress, and crape myrtles usually want attention every 2–3 years. We'll give you an honest interval at the quote, not a subscription pitch.
